Southwest Movers Association today released the following statement on the passage of the Committee Substitute for SB 207 by Senator Charles Schwertner: 
 
“SMA applauds the Senate State Affairs Committee for recognizing the necessity of SB 207 and voting the committee substitute out of committee,” said SMA Executive Director John D. Esparza. “When a Texan is injured in an accident, we want them to receive the medical attention they need to heal. We don’t want opportunistic plaintiff lawyers and unscrupulous medical providers preying on them and recommending unnecessary procedures to increase medical expenses. This bill will stop the abuse of hardworking Texans and fraudulent, inflated medical expenses. We look forward to this bill continuing through the legislative process.”
