AUSTIN— Southwest Mover Association (SMA) is proud to announce Chad Miller as the 2024 Heritage Award recipient. The SMA Heritage Award recognizes a member who has made significant contributions to the moving industry and association.
"Chad Miller's dedication and innovative spirit have profoundly impacted the moving industry. His commitment to excellence and community service exemplifies the values we hold dear at SMA," said John D. Esparza, SMA Executive Director.
Chad Miller's career in the moving industry began in 1981 when he joined Half Price Movers. He quickly progressed from mover to driver to management, and by 1986 he was given the opportunity to buy Half Price Movers. After the purchase of the company, Chad and his wife Kris spent the next 37 years growing it into a Pinnacle Mover – SMA's highest certification for service and consumer protection. Chad has also developed innovative products for the industry, such as color-coded moving labels and a box display for storage facilities.
Since joining SMA in 2006, Chad has been an active member, serving on the Board of Directors, as Chairman, and on the Foundation Board, while helping to recruit new companies to the association. His dedication to family, community, and the moving industry exemplifies the values of the Heritage Award. SMA is honored to recognize Chad Miller for his outstanding contributions and unwavering commitment to the moving industry.
