2013 Heritage Award Recipient – Roy Adams
One of 12 children born to Van and Lottie Adams, Roy grew up in Fairfield Mississippi, and was never at a loss for company or friends.
After a six-year stint with the Marine Military police, Roy joined his brother, and future business partner, Ray, in the box business. And in 1976, he founded Mover Packaging Inc. Southwest.
As a tribute to his success in the business, Roy has had the unending support of his sweet bride Carolyn. This month they will celebrate more than 40 years together! And a blessed life it has been with two sons, Stephen and Matt, a daughter Cindy and six grandchildren!
When asked about Roy, the comments flood in about a one of a kind gentleman with a happy demeanor and a smile. Remarks such as genuine, loyal, thoughtful, considerate, full of life … and names such as mentor, friend, entertainer and of course golfer come readily to mind.
As a mentor, Roy has been generous with his knowledge and sage advice, always sharing the ins and outs of moving honestly as well as sharing connections and relationships without hesitation. He is a shining example for those in the industry.
Those connections and the relationships he maintains have allowed him to keep many of the same customers since his entrance into the business. The personal touch he strives for with all of his customers leaves a lasting impression.
Not only has Roy been active in moving, but also in his community. He is a member of the VFW American Legion, Shriners and is a passionate advocate for St. Jude’s.
Roy credits his friendships in Southwest Movers as an asset that has allowed him to enjoy more than 40 years in the industry.
Roy, not only do we call you the 2013 Heritage Award Recipient, we also call you friend. Thank you for your service, dedication and commitment to the association and to the moving industry.
